Legend of the Sun

Long time ago there was only darkness in the land. Ming tried to look for love there. However, without the ability to see his surroundings he didn’t even know how to start. He prayed to the heaven to show him a way. His prayers touched the Sun who was far far away. The Sun made a trip to the land to bring light and heat to help Ming. With his prayers answered he started his journey. Sadly, even with the help of the Sun Ming still could not find his love.

Then, in his moment of despair, he realized that in fact, love had been around him the whole time.

The Sun was equally surprised. It only set out with good intention to help this young man look for love. It had never expected that they were looking for each other.

Ming, being human, did not have wings, and could not fly himself to the Sun. And the Sun could not get any closer to the land without destroying it. The lovers stared at each other, trying to look for a solution. The Wind saw that the Sun’s love was burning and killing Ming. It took pity and circled around Ming to reduce the damage. The Sun saw that Ming was wasting his life with his love and so, made the hard decision of leaving. The land was once again covered in darkness.

Even though the Sun and Ming did not see each other anymore their love did not get any less. The Sun secretly asked the Moon to reflect his light so that at least part of him could be with Ming. However, the reflected light was not strong enough to bring light to all of the land, and the Sun could not find Ming in this darkness. The Stars felt the sadness in the Sun. They all volunteered to open their eyes to help look for Ming. With the Stars’ help the Sun was able to find Ming once again.

As it turned out, after losing the Sun, Ming was in sorrow for a long long time. Eventually, however, he was moved my the Wind’s love for him and had accepted the Wind as his lover. While Ming had found love, having been bathed in the Sun’s love he could no longer live in constant darkness. The Sun, knowing this, returned to the land, carrying with it its deepest torment. Looking at the lover it couldn’t have, the Sun cried, and its tears turned into the Rain which fell down the land. When the Sun could not take it any longer, it once again retreated in darkness. And just like that, the cycle repeats itself, timelessly, endlessly…

The irony is that the seed of this unfulfilled love has brought life and energy to the land.
